Yesterday, actress and musician Mandy Moore announced the arrival of her first child with her husband Taylor Goldsmith. Today, she took to Instagram to share some details behind the name they chose for their son.
Mandy and Taylor named their firstborn son “August,” an English name that means “Great” or “To Increase.” In her post, Mandy went into detail into why they chose this name. “It was last August when @taylordawesgoldsmith and I found out we were having a boy (it’s also Taylor’s birth month) and we always loved the name… so it was settled very early on in our book.”
The image Mandy used was of a blanket that had August’s name written on it. Turns out, the blanket was a sentimental gift. “For our anniversary in November, T gifted me with this blanket with the “A” (for Amanda) made from extra material from my wedding dress and “T” (for Taylor) from his wedding shirt. Felt like a very fitting amalgamation of our whole story. I can’t wait to pass this on to our sweet August one day.” Such a precious and meaningful gift to pass on to their son!
In August’s birth announcement, the This Is Us star referred to her son as “Gus,” which is apparently the nickname the couple has chosen for him. “Gus is here,” she wrote in her post where she also revealed he arrived on his due date.
Congratulations once again to Mandy and Taylor! We hope they are settling in well into their new role as parents.
