Three Simple Steps to Joining the Morning Tea Revolution

Remember when morning or afternoon tea was a BIG DEAL. Finger sandwiches, cut slices, hot scones being shared and the kettle constantly boil all while people ate and chatted? Let’s bring it back!

It’s time to bring morning and afternoon tea back into our lives and what better way than to host a special little soiree for the Cancer Council’s Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea on 27th May 2021.

It’s the perfect excuse to grab your besties, indulge on fresh cakes and scones while raising much-needed funds for what is one of Australia’s leading cancer charities.

DID YOU KNOW: 1 in 2 Australians are diagnosed with cancer before the age of 85.
We want to change that, and we need your help. Your morning tea will help raise vital funds to bring us closer to a cancer-free future.

1. How to do morning tea…

Showing just how it’s done, Kati posted on Facebook the beautiful morning tea she created for Mother’s Day last weekend. As you can see by all of her gorgeous snaps, it really is a celebration of all the delicious and pretty things.

It’s a chance to show off your prettiest plates and bake (or shop) to your heart’s content. This kind of get together is a delicious treat for all. Kati says:

Morning teas are an excuse to bring out all the pretty decor so make it super feminine. Pink touches, lots of flowers and girly details!

2. But, what to eat?

If you’ve never hosted a tea before don’t worry, it’s super easy!

Simply dust off the teapot (no worries if you don’t have one) – just keep the tea and coffee coming. Lay out a selection of sweet and savoury finger foods, sit back and relax. That really is all there is to it.

If you’re not much of a baker that’s perfectly fine too – you can pick up so many amazing (and affordable) sweet treats at your local supermarket bakery section, and nobody would know!

Alternatively, if you’re in Melbourne, the team at Ferguson Plarre Bakehouses make your role as host a whole lot easier! They have a range of gorgeous High Tea packs ready to go – check out all their deliciousness here!

If you have some time up your sleeve, try these recipes for your spread – chocolate caramel slice, pizza pinwheels and Twix biscuits. Don’t forget sandwiches cut into fingers or quarters! Sandwich fillings can include beef and tomato, ham and cheese, salmon and cream cheese or lettuce and curried egg. YUM.
